Oral Conscious Sedation

If you are at all anxious about going to the dentist for any dental procedure then Oral conscious sedationmay right for you.

Dr. Gakhal will ask you to arrive 1/2 hour before your appointment so that he can give you a sedative (a pill). You will rest in the waiting room while the sedative takes effect. When you are feeling relaxed you will be moved to the operatory for your procedure.

Oral conscious sedation does not "knock you out" like some other forms of anesthesia. You will remain awake during your procedure, but you will be in a heightened state of relaxation. It is also possible that you will not remember part, or all, of your procedure.  Oral conscious sedation is safe and easy. It is much less expensive than other forms of sedation. It also makes long or complex procedures seem shorter, allowing you to have all of your work done in a single visit. You will still receive local anesthetic where indicated to ensure that there is no pain.

Because cognitive function and coordination may be impaired, you wil need to have someone drive you to and from the office. You will not be given the sedation unless there is someone who has committed to drive you home.

Don't wait any longer to have necessary dental work performed because you are nervous. Ask your dentist about oral conscious sedation to see if it is right for you.
